Cynthia Whitcomb Workshops

Cynthia Whitcomb's 2008 Winter

        Screenwriting Class

Veteran screenwriter Cynthia Whitcomb reveals everything today's aspiring screenwriter needs to know about writing and selling a movie script to Hollywood, cable TV, or network television in this informative class. Students will be taught how to tell a story as a film, how to format a script, how to write compelling scenes, and taught proven, award-winning strategies for getting the right people to look at your work, marketing a "spec" script, making a splash at pitch meetings, and much more. Plus, they'll discover what today's top agents and producers look for in a script, the types of deals you can expect to make, as well as an appendix of agents who specialize in handling scriptwriters.

Marc Acito, a student of Cynthia's workshop, sold the movie rights to his novel for $100,000 to a top movie producer.

The dates of the class are: February 2nd, 16th, 23rd, March 1st, March 15th, and March 22nd. Class are from 9 am to 3 pm. All dates are on Saturdays, and classes are held at Portland State University in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Cost of the class is $495.

The goal of this class is that students start with an idea (or a script in progress) and finish with a draft of a script that Cynthia reads and offers notes. In past classes, students have ranged from first time screenwriters to writers working on a second or third script.
